According to a research note by Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities Analyst, the iPhone 8 will be having an all-glass casing to cater to wireless charging needs. This will be a huge design overhaul compared to the metal casing we currently have now.
iPhone 8 wireless charging
The transition from a metal to glass case was needed if ever Apple will step foot in the wireless charging realm, according to Ming-Chi Kuo. It is also said that a company named Pegatron will be the official supplier of the wireless charger. Although, it is still unsure whether a wireless charger will be bundled along with the iPhone 8 or not.
Foregoing the metal casing is a rational decision if you want wireless charging since it’s the main cause of interference. But there are lots of wireless charging cases already available in which Apple can make themselves. Also, the durability and scratch resistance of the device will also be questionable. And if ever it does break, repairs might get quite difficult. Along with all the iPhone 8 rumours, also take this with a grain of salt.
